KAKUS: The new RM2 million Sungai Muput bridge has been fully completed since April 3 this year which is way ahead of schedule and has benefited the residents of Ulu Anap, Nanga Tau, and Penyarai areas.
Minister in the Premier’s Department, Datuk Seri John Sikie Tayai, said the bridge was constructed under the Minor Upgrading and Development Projects allocation using the Forest Concession Area Fund Board (LKWKKH) of the Tatau District for the year 2023.
“This bridge has a positive impact and is very useful to the residents, especially those from the Ulu Anap, Ulu Penyarai, and Muput areas, which encompasses 44 longhouses including three schools and two health clinics in Nanga Tau and Nanga Penyarai.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the contractor who was able to complete this bridge within six months compared to the eight months that was originally scheduled,” he said during the handover ceremony of the Sungai Muput Bridge recently.
For the record, the previous wooden Sungai Muput bridge was often prone to damage and flood, causing residents to lose access to the main road.
