SIBU: Several roads in town are flooded due to continuous rain and king tides.
Sibu Municipal Council chairman Clarence Ting Ing Horh said among the affected roads were Jalan Ling Kai Cheng, Jalan Khoo Peng Loong, Jalan Hua Khiew, and Jalan Merlin.
“Also affected were Jalan Belian, Jalan Camar, Jalan Maling, Jalan Kiong Tung, Jalan Lanang, Jalan Ulu Sungai Merah, and Jalan Sentosa,” he said in his Facebook post today.
Meanwhile, Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA) Zone 4 chief Andy Alie, when contacted, said the situation remains under control for now, and his department has yet to receive any flood-related reports from residents.
“The public is advised to remain cautious, especially those living in low-lying areas and near rivers,” he said, adding residents should prioritise safety and stay updated on weather developments and instructions from the authorities.
So far, in Sibu division, a total of five temporary evacuation centres (PPS) have been opened, with 983 people evacuated.
