BINTULU: Another temporary relief centre (PPS) will be opened at Paragon NAIM Street Mall here, which can accommodate 1,000 people.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof stated that he will discuss with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on the additional assistance needed after receiving a full report from the district disaster management committee.
“The government is currently coordinating the delivery of additional supplies, such as mattresses and blankets, from other regions, including Kuching.
“A big thank you to everyone involved, including the Resident’s Office, all agencies, rescue teams, volunteers, and all parties who have contributed significantly,” he said on his Facebook post following his visit to Bintulu, the most flood-hit district.
He also extended his appreciation to Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, for his dedication and hands-on efforts in assisting flood victims in his constituency.
“I would like to advise all flood victims to comply with the authorities’ instructions to ensure everyone’s safety and the proper distribution of aid.
“I also urge them to register at the evacuation centres and contact the District Office or Resident’s Office for assistance. I pray that the situation will recover soon and that all flood victims can return to their homes safely,” he added.
