KUCHING: The Magistrates’ Court here fined two Indonesian women RM10,000 each in default six months in prison for selling online gambling top-ups using a mobile phone earlier this month.
Mila, 20, and Kristina Ilin, 24, from Bengkayang, Indonesia, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan to the charge under Section 4B(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code.
The offence was committed at an unlicensed shop in Kampung Geobilt, Jalan Bako, at about 1.45 pm on March 5.
According to the case facts, a Criminal Investigation Division (CID) D7 team raided the premises and arrested the two foreign women.
Also seized were a Huawei phone and RM446 in cash.
Investigations found that both women had been carrying out online gambling activities without licence using a mobile phone.
