KUALA LUMPUR: Maxim Malaysia has received the final approval from the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) to continue operating its e-hailing services nationwide, following the completion of a three-month compliance monitoring period.
According to a press release, the approval confirms that Maxim now meets all regulatory requirements set for e-hailing operators in Malaysia.
During a press conference here, Maxim Malaysia’s Legal Compliance and Government Relations representative, Mushfique Ahmed, said the company had addressed several key areas during the monitoring period, including legalisation processes, driver support systems, safety enhancements, and community initiatives.
“During this time, the company submitted all required reports and implemented key improvements to ensure full driver licensing compliance.
“With these efforts, Maxim passed the inspection and is cleared to continue providing online e-hailing services across the country,” the statement added.
To strengthen compliance, Maxim conducted an internal audit of Public Service Vehicle (PSV) and E-Hailing Vehicle Permit (eVP) licences, updated its driver onboarding process and introduced stricter inspection measures.
The company also offered financial assistance of up to RM400 for new drivers and a 0 per cent commission incentive for newly approved driver-partners.
Maxim also collaborated with driving schools to expedite the PSV licensing process and cover related expenses for drivers.
On safety measures, the company introduced women-only ride options in selected East Coast cities, distributed child seats to top-performing drivers in Terengganu, and upgraded its SOS button for faster emergency contact.
As part of its social responsibility efforts, Maxim expanded support for Persons with Disabilities (OKU) through 0 per cent commission for OKU drivers and improved service options for OKU passengers.
Other initiatives included Independence Day and Malaysia Day campaigns, transportation support for the blind community, and blood donation drives.
The company also signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Malaysian Association for the Blind to strengthen its inclusivity programmes.
Maxim Malaysia’s Country Head, Hazwan Musley, said the company was ready to enter a new phase of growth with APAD’s final approval.
“We will continue improving our services, expanding our reach, and ensuring a safe and reliable experience for passengers and driver-partners.
“I sincerely thank APAD, our drivers, passengers, and media friends for their trust and support. Thank you for standing with Maxim as we continue to grow,” he said.
Hazwan added that Maxim plays a role in enabling economic participation, especially for individuals who rely on e-hailing as their main source of income, including those living in suburban and rural areas.
“These steps reflect our commitment not only to regulatory compliance but also to strengthening passenger safety, driver welfare, and community support.
“Maxim has demonstrated that it is a necessary and competitive player in Malaysia’s e-hailing landscape, helping reduce market monopoly, and improving mobility across all states,” he added.
With the final approval in place, Maxim Malaysia plans to enhance its technological features, expand service offerings, and continue working with authorities and community partners to support a more inclusive transportation ecosystem.
