KUCHING: Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) has set a limit of six entertainment premises for Block D at MJC, Batu Kawa here in an effort to balance business activity with the well-being of nearby residents and surrounding commercial operators.
MPP chairman Tan Kai said the decision was made by the council’s Market, Licensing and Enforcement Standing Committee and later endorsed at the Full Council Meeting held at the council’s headquarters today (Dec 30).
He said the move took into account feedback from the community and the need to ensure fair treatment for both residents and business owners in the area.
Tan noted that the block already houses several entertainment outlets, and the council wants to ensure their operations do not adversely affect the surrounding neighbourhood.
He also reminded entertainment licence applicants within MPP’s jurisdiction to conduct their businesses responsibly to maintain a peaceful and harmonious environment in the commercial zone.
“MPP will continue to implement improvements and closely monitor entertainment business activities to ensure a balanced and win-win situation, where businesses are able to operate while residents and nearby establishments can go about their daily lives without being affected,” he said.
The council will continue enforcement and engagement efforts to ensure compliance with licensing requirements and community standards.
