KAPIT: A cheque presentation organised by the Kapit Parliamentary Service Centre here has channeled a total amount of RM496,000 to 30 welfare recipients yesterday (Jan 16).
Works Minister and Kapit MP, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, said the assistance reflected the service centre’s continued commitment to addressing welfare needs within the local community.
“Transparency and accountability must continue to be prioritised to ensure that all funds channelled are fully utilised and provide meaningful benefits to recipients,” he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Legal Affairs and Native Customs) cum Bukit Goram assemblyman Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat said the amount received varied according to each application and the intended use of the funds.
He said information about the assistance should be shared accordingly to ensure communities and relevant associations were aware of the support available, while maintaining responsible fund management.
“Each recipient must keep proper records of how the funds are used for documentation and future reference, in line with accountability principles in the management of public assistance,” he stressed.
