KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi graced an iftar ceremony organised by the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) at the Surau Astana Sarawak on Sunday (Feb 22).
Upon arrival, the couple were welcomed by the Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali.
Also present were UNIFOR director Datuk Georgina Apphia Ngau, as well as leaders of other faiths.
The event began with a light iftar, followed by congregational Maghrib prayers and the breaking of fast together with invited guests.
After the meal, Wan Junaidi and his wife spent time mingling and taking commemorative photographs with the UNIFOR delegation and religious leaders before departing.
He later joined congregants in performing Isyak and tarawih prayers, led by Ustaz Awang Mohamad Safwan Awang Sefari.
Meanwhile, Wan Junaidi and his wife expressed gratitude for being able to gather in a harmonious atmosphere that strengthened ties and fostered unity among the community.
