SIBU: Students from the Ngemah constituency, who have achieved excellent results in education, will continue to be given a one-off financial initiative that had been established since 2022.
Ngemah state assemblyman, Anyi Jana, said that the incentive is given to students who have achieved excellent results at the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), Diploma and Degree levels.
According to him, the provision of the initiative is not only to help ease the financial burden of the students’ parents but also as an incentive for them to continue to strive to achieve educational excellence.
“Every SPM graduate who successfully obtained results of at least 3A and above will be given RM300, the Diploma level will be given RM500 and the Degree level will be given RM1,000.

“This means that each student has the opportunity to get this initiative three times.
“This initiative is what I introduced since I became the elected Ngemah people’s representative in 2022. This year is the fifth time the initiative has been held and will continue in the future,” he told the media at the breaking of fast held by the Royal Malaysian Navy Veterans Association Sarawak Branch with students from among the orphans of SMK Agama Sibu, at Nur Islamic Cafe here recently.
Anyi, who is also the association patron, said that he would also bring the association together in an effort to help improve educational excellence among students from the Ngemah constituency.
He said this was because education was one of the aspects given the main focus besides improving infrastructure in the Ngemah constituency.
In this regard, he praised the association for the success of organising breaking of fast activities and supporting orphans every time in preparation for the fasting month and hoped that it would continue in the future.
“Such programmes can instil enthusiasm and encouragement to orphans to continue striving to achieve success in education, especially since they do not have a parent or both,” Anyi added.
