SIBU: The Photographic Society of Sibu (PSS) will celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2027, an important achievement that reflects the association’s continuity and active development in the field of photography.
President Peter Lee said the association’s committee will start planning early to ensure that the jubilee celebration is meaningful and leaves memories for all members.
“This is a very significant achievement for PSS. Therefore, thorough preparations will be made so that this celebration can be celebrated well by all members,” he said at the PSS Annual General Meeting (AGM) held here on Sunday (March 22).
According to Lee, since its establishment, PSS has continued to grow, thanks to the strong support of members and the commitment of the committee in organising various photography-related activities.
He added that to further strengthen the association’s role, PSS will continue to increase programmes such as workshops, exhibitions, competitions and photography trips to improve skills and strengthen relationships among members.
Meanwhile, he also stressed that PSS remains an inclusive platform that provides opportunities for all levels, whether new or experienced photographers, to learn, share ideas and showcase their creativity.
In addition, he also encouraged members to apply for lifetime membership as a sign of continued commitment to the development of the association.
At the same time, a proposal was also put forward to introduce the Niblett Cup, in honour of the founder of PSS, Dr D. H. Niblett, who was also the District Medical Officer of the Third Division at one time.
The award, according to Lee, is not only a sign of appreciation for the services of the figure, but also serves to instill a spirit of excellence among members.
Meanwhile, Lee expressed his appreciation to all members for their continued support and called for the spirit of cooperation to be strengthened in order to bring PSS to a greater level of excellence ahead of its historic anniversary.
Also present was PSS advisor Roger Tiong Tak Liong.
