KUCHING: Kuching City FC have cruised to a 4-1 win over PDRM FC with a rotated side, impressing head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak.

Two stunning free-kicks from Ramadhan Saifullah set the tone for a dominant display at the Sarawak State Stadium last night (Apr 12), as the Cats combined attacking intent with effective squad rotation to secure all three points.

Aidil’s rotated Cats cruise past PDRM FC.

The result has lifted Kuching City to second in the Malaysia Super League standings on goal difference, level on points with Selangor FC, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Sabah FC.

Despite the convincing scoreline, Aidil said his side must improve their finishing after creating numerous chances.

“I think the boys started very aggressively and we managed to get an early goal. After that, we created so many chances but didn’t take them, and that’s something we have to improve,” he said.

He also highlighted key tactical adjustments at halftime, including the introduction of fresh legs, which helped sustain the team’s intensity.

“In the second half, again we were aggressive and we took our chances. After that, we grew in confidence more and more.

“We nailed the opponent’s confidence down after getting the third and fourth goals,” he told a post-match press conference.

Aidil’s decision to rotate the squad proved effective, with several players stepping up in the absence of suspended duo Moses Atede and James Okwuosa, while others were rested to avoid injuries.

He singled out Ahmad Israiwah for his lively performance despite being denied twice by the woodwork, while Jerome Etame marked his start with a goal.

“It’s the best time to rotate and give players minutes—not to undermine the opponent, but because we don’t want to risk injuries, especially with important matches coming,” he explained.

Aidil emphasised the importance of competition within the squad ahead of the Malaysia Cup semi-final second leg against Selangor on Apr 18.

“They have to train to show me that they deserve to play because we don’t know if injuries might come, sickness, virus—anything can happen. But this is where everyone has to be ready,” he said.
