BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Brunei Darussalam: Sarawak and Brunei reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cross-border security cooperation to combat transnational crime.
The commitment was made during a bilateral meeting between the Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) and the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) at the RBPF Headquarters here yesterday (Tuesday, June 30).
The Sarawak delegation was led by Sarawak Police Commissioner, Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah, while the Brunei delegation was headed by Brunei Police Commissioner, Datuk Seri Pahlawan Sulaiman Alidin.
The meeting served as a strategic platform for both forces to strengthen professional ties and enhance collaboration in addressing increasingly complex cross-border security challenges.

Among the key areas discussed were enhancing intelligence sharing, strengthening communication channels, conducting joint operations, expanding cooperation in search and rescue (SAR) missions, reinforcing maritime security, combating maritime crime, and streamlining procedures for the transfer of detainees between Malaysia and Brunei.
Zainal was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner DCP Saifullizan Ishak, Sarawak Management Department chief SAC Zulkipli Suhaili, Sarawak Internal Security and Public Order Department chief SAC Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood, Sarawak General Operations Force (GOF) Brigade Commander SAC Lim Bak Phai, Sarawak Marine Police Region 5 Commander ACP Abdul Rahman Mat Hasan, Sarawak Air Operations Base Commander ACP Faizul Mohammad, senior contingent officers, as well as the district police chiefs of Miri, Limbang and Lawas.
Meanwhile, Sulaiman was joined by Deputy Commissioner, Pengiran Anak Mohamad Saifullah Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Idris, and the Royal Brunei Police Force’s senior leadership.
During the meeting, the Brunei Police Commissioner presented Letters of Appreciation to the district police chiefs of Miri and Limbang in recognition of their swift action and close cooperation in helping resolve a criminal case involving the arrest of a suspect who had fled from Brunei.
