SEREMBU: Several key road projects in Serembu have been completed, while two major infrastructure links are moving into the implementation stage.
Funded under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA), the key road projects are expected to strengthen connectivity and support tourism and agriculture in the constituency.
Serembu assemblyman, Datuk Miro Simuh said three projects have been completed, delivering improved access for rural communities and local economic activities.
Among them is the Jalan Tai Shin Har to Serembu Eco-Park route, a shorter access road that provides easier access to the popular jungle retreat at the foothills of Mount Serembu.
The completed Ropi farm road has also enhanced transportation for farmers by improving access to agricultural land and facilitating the movement of farm produce.
Aside from the two projects, worth RM700,000 each that have been completed, a new RM2-million connector road linking Kopit and Segubang has also been completed, providing a more direct route between the two settlements.
Miro said attention is now shifting to two larger projects that will further improve the area’s transport network.
The RM14-million road linking Kampung Pisa to Jalan Pejiru, which will serve the wider Krokong area, is scheduled to be called for tender later this year.
Meanwhile, the RM4-million Kampung Puak-Tegura road project has already been awarded to a contractor and construction is expected to begin next month.
He said the new road will significantly improve accessibility to tourism attractions around Sungai Tegura, including Bung Podad, a scenic hill renowned for its jungle trekking and hiking trails that offer panoramic views of the Krokong landscape.
Miro said the projects reflect the state government’s continued commitment to strengthening rural infrastructure through GKCDA, enhancing connectivity, supporting agricultural development and unlocking the tourism potential of communities throughout the Serembu constituency.
