BETONG: Methamphetamine continues to plague the district, with an anti-drug operation uncovering dozens of users over the course of three days.
The National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) detected 44 individuals who tested positive for the illicit drug during ‘Ops Cegah’, carried out from July 28 to 30 as part of its ongoing efforts to curb drug abuse in the district.
Throughout the operation, a total of 47 individuals were detained for urine screening, with only three testing negative.
“Among those who tested positive were 39 men and five women.
“The majority of the positive cases involved individuals aged between 19 and 40, accounting for 25 people. Another 16 were aged between 41 and 50, while three were between 51 and 60.
“All of them are being investigated under the Drug Dependants (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983, with further action to be taken in accordance with the law,” the agency said.
AADK said it will continue intensifying enforcement and detection operations to combat drug abuse and safeguard the safety and well-being of the community.
