BAU: The Bidayuh-Jagoi community is set to benefit from a new community centre after the proposed project received approval from the State Planning Authority (SPA).
Deputy Minister of Transport (Riverine and Marine) Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said the Jagoi Community Centre in Pejiru, funded under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA), will provide a venue for social, community and official programmes.
“The development plan and planning permission for the construction of the Jagoi Community Centre project in Pejiru have been officially approved by the SPA, and the official tender will be opened.
“The project will be implemented in two phases, with the first phase involving the construction of a hall, while the second phase will involve the construction of a Baruk building and other facilities,” he said when officiating at the BiJagoi Day celebration here recently.
Henry, who is also Tasik Biru assemblyman, said the construction of the hall under the first phase, with a project cost of RM5.5 million, is important to meet the needs of various community activities and events.
Meanwhile, 97 students from the Tasik Biru constituency who successfully enrolled in their respective higher learning institutions received one-off education incentives for Bill No. 2 of 2026, amounting to RM32,800.
A similar incentive was also previously presented to 86 students under Bill No. 1 of 2026, involving a total allocation of RM39,100.
