KUCHING: A local man found himself in police custody after an entertainment centre was raided for allegedly operating without a valid licence along Jalan Lapangan Terbang here.
The operations, which also saw music equipment seized, was carried out at around 10.45 pm last Friday (Sept 4).
Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the 53-year-old local man was arrested after he was found to be conducting entertainment activities without a valid licence.
The case is being investigated under Section 5(1) of the Entertainment Ordinance 2000.
If convicted, the offence carries a fine of up to RM20,000, imprisonment for up to five years, or both.
Following this, Alexson assured that police would continue conducting monitoring and enforcement operations on entertainment centres from time to time.
This is to ensure entertainment centre operators complied with regulations set by the authorities.
He also advised all operators in the district to obtain valid entertainment licences and refrain from conducting activities beyond the permitted operating hours.
