KUCHING: Air Pollutant Index (API) readings in several areas across Sarawak decreased this morning, indicating an improvement in air quality, according to the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB).
As of 8 am today, Kuching recorded an API reading of 235, placing it in the ‘Very Unhealthy’ category.
Other areas in the same category are Lubok Antu at 237, Sri Aman at 216, Lundu at 215 and Kanowit at 215.
Meanwhile, Samalaju recorded an API reading of 200, followed by Bintulu at 199, Samarahan and Mukah at 195, Betong at 194, Sarikei at 189, Serian at 184, ILP Miri at 182, Sibu at 181, Miri at 176, Limbang and Tebedu at 163, and Lawas at 134. All are classified as ‘Unhealthy’.
KapIt and Bario recorded ‘Moderate’ API readings of 100 and 74 respectively.
The readings are based on the 24-hour running average of the most dominant pollutant parameter.
