KUCHING: Sarawak Head of CID, SAC Denis Leong, has confirmed that a man, whose remains were found in an abandoned Agriculture officer’s quarters at Jalan Dusun, off Jalan Ong Tiang Swee here yesterday, was a victim of murder.
Leong, who was at the scene for four hours since the remains were found by residents nearby at 10am, said there was no identification on the body which was found to be in a decomposed state.
He said police were waiting for the victim’s next-of-kin to make the identification.
He added that there were superficial injuries on the victim’s body and a post-mortem would be conducted to determine the cause of death.
On Jan 12 at 10.40pm, a man known as “Ah Kok” was leaving a shop at Jalan Datuk Tawi Sli when he was caught in a CCTV footage being bundled into his Toyota Harrier. Ah Kok’s family then reported him as missing.
Leong said police seized the vehicle for investigation.
He added that unless they investigated the case further, they would not be able to confirm the motive of the murder.
On Sunday, police arrested four people aged between 28 and 35. Two were then released.
On Monday at about 9am, police arrested another two males for illegal confinement.
Leong added that the four would be remanded for further investigation. The forensic team and dog unit were also at the murder scene.
