Firemen thwarts woman’s suicide bid

BINTULU: A 29-year-old depressed local woman planned to jump off the third floor window of a building at Medan Central here this afternoon. Fortunately, she was rescued by firemen.

Earlier on, the woman was seen acting suspiciously before she went up to the third floor of the building, allegedly to commit suicide by jumping off from the building.

A team of eight firemen was deployed to the scene in response to an emergency call around 12.42 pm about a woman who was spotted standing on the window ledge of the third floor of the building.

The Bomba team immediately rushed to the building and started counselling her.

Eventually, the firemen managed to engage her in talks and get close to her.

Once she was within touching distance, they immediately grabbed her.

The woman was then handed over to the police for further action.

Also seen  at the location were the police, an ambulance and Bintulu Civil Defence Force personnel.
