SARATOK: Police and Sarawak Electricity Supply Corporation (SESCO) cut off the electricity supply to a premises suspected of operating illegal gambling activities during an operation in Jalan Wawasan here yesterday (Feb 5).

Saratok police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said the action was carried out under ‘Op Dadu’ following an inspection conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department of the Saratok District Police Headquarters.

He said the operation involved officers led by Inspector Henry Muji and SESCO enforcement officers, with the power supply terminated as a preventive measure to curb gambling activities in the district.

“The action was taken under Section 21A of the Open Gambling Houses Act 1953,” he said in a statement.

Only one building was involved in the operation, and a report has been lodged for record and further action.
