KUCHING: South Korea brought an end to a four-year wait for the Uber Cup title after overcoming defending champions China 3-1 in the 2026 final at Horsens, Denmark today.
It was a composed and measured performance, built on timely execution and calm under pressure.
World No. 1 An Se Young laid the foundation, easing past Wang Zhi Yi 21-10, 21-13 in 47 minutes to give Korea the early advantage.
China responded through Liu Sheng Shu–Tan Ning, who defeated Jeong Na Eun–Lee So Hee 21-15, 21-12 to level the tie at 1-1.
But Korea stayed steady.
Kim Ga Eun delivered a crucial point in the second singles, overcoming Chen Yu Fei 21-19, 21-15 to restore the lead and shift momentum.
With the title within reach, Baek Ha Na–Kim Hye Jeong completed the job, recovering from a first-game loss to defeat Jia Yi Fan–Zhang Shu Xian over a strenuous 16-21, 21-10, 21-13 set win.
The victory sees South Korea return to the summit of women’s team badminton for the first time since their 2022 triumph, closing a four-year chapter with a composed and deserving finish, while China settled as runners-up and Japan alongside Indonesia finished as joint bronze medallists after their semi-final exits.
It marks Korea’s third Uber Cup title, following their breakthrough win in 2010.
