MIRI: Sarawak Transport Minister, Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, paid a visit to the Ramadan Bazaar at Emart Riam on Sunday evening (March 16) to get a closer look at its operations.

The visit demonstrated his commitment to supporting local businesses and fostering community engagement.

Accompanying him were councillors and community leaders from the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Senadin and Riam sub-branch, including Jeffery Phang Siaw Foong, Kueh Chie Tiong, Yap Siew Jin, Kapitan Jee Kee Hiong, and Kapitan Chong Khee Fah.

Also present were Malay community leaders, Temenggong Abang Mohamed Dato’ Sri Abang Othman and Ketua Kaum Adam Malek Han.

Lee’s visit aimed to assess the bazaar’s operations, ensuring that traders had a conducive environment in which to conduct business.

During his walkabout, he engaged with vendors and purchased a variety of traditional delicacies, encouraging others to support local traders.

In this context he highlighted the significance of community patronage especially during the fasting month.
