MIRI: A 13-door longhouse and two individual houses at Jalan Beluru in Lapok, Tinjar, Baram were yesterday hit by a landslip which left them on the verge of toppling down a nearby riverbank.

Miri Fire and Rescue Department chief, Supt Law Poh Kiong, said after they were informed about the situation at 12.10pm a number of his personnel were sent to the village which is about 105km from Lopeng Fire Station here.

“Our men had told the villagers to be extra vigilant and to vacte their homes if the situation worsened,” Law said.

Baram District Office has been notified about the landslide that is believed to have occurred due to prolonged pressure from strong river current and the longhouse itself has always been very close to the bank.
