KOTA SAMARAHAN: A local man was killed after his motorcycle collided head-on with a car at KM17, Jalan Kota Samarahan–Asajaya last night (No 5).

The accident happened at 7.22 pm amid heavy rain, which made the road slippery and reduced visibility for motorists.

Preliminary investigations found that the 39-year-old victim’s motorcycle had skidded out of control and entered the opposite lane before colliding with a Toyota Vios that was travelling towards Kuching from Sebuyau.

Kota Samarahan police chief Supt Damataries Lautin said the victim suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

His body was taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for a post-mortem.

Meanwhile, the Vios driver, a 39-year-old man, escaped unharmed.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
