BINTULU: A 21-year-old man was injured after the car he was driving crashed into the rear of a 20-tonne premix lorry near SMK Bandar Bintulu early this morning (April 18).
The Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call at 4:24 am and arrived at the scene about 10 minutes later.
The victim, identified as Joel Ong Sii Yee, was found trapped in the driver’s seat of his Honda WR-V.
Firefighters used rescue tools to extricate him from the wreckage.
“He sustained injuries to his legs and hip and was handed over to the Health Ministry personnel for further treatment,” said a Bomba spokesperson.
He was later taken to Bintulu Hospital.
The lorry driver, 49-year-old Sambong Linus, was not injured.
The operations were brought under control at 5:04 am and concluded at 5:34 am.
