KUCHING: Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri paid a visit to a mother who lost her 18-year-old son in a motorcycle accident along Jalan Demak, Petra Jaya, last Friday.
The victim, Fitri Azri Umar, the second of three siblings, was understood to have just started a part-time job on the day of the incident.
Nancy said the deceased had stopped by to see his mother, who was running a business at the Kampung Goebilt Hawker Centre, before they parted for the last time.
“At the time, he was awaiting the results of the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), which will be announced soon.
“This loss is deeply painful for the family, especially for the mother, who remains strong and accepts God’s will with patience,” she said in a Facebook posting today.
She added that a one-off death benefit contribution was also handed over, while the Yayasan Kebajikan Negara (YKN) provided assistance to help ease the family’s burden.
Nancy, who was accompanied by YKN chief executive officer Nordina Harun, also prayed that the deceased be placed among the faithful and that the family be granted strength to endure the trial.
