THE Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) will forward proposals to reintroduce Sarawak History in primary schools and incorporate Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) elements in the pre-university syllabus.

Minister Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said the ministry has no objection to the proposals put forward by the Bukit Semuja and Serembu assemblymen.

“Nevertheless, as curriculum matters fall under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), we will forward the proposals to the said federal ministries for their consideration,” he said during his ministerial winding-up speech at the august House today.

Separately, Sagah stressed that the ministry will not tolerate bullying in schools and called for swift and appropriate action from school authorities to prevent such incidents.

He said this aligns with the MoE’s ongoing initiative, Stop Bullying and Sexual Misconduct, which aims to curb bullying and misconduct among students.

On teacher manpower, Sagah disclosed that 305 teachers in Sarawak opted for early retirement last year.

“Despite this, there are still sufficient teachers serving in our schools across Sarawak,” he added.
