SARIKEI: The Sarawak Education Expo 2025 serves as an important platform to strengthen the state’s education ecosystem and provide wider access for the younger generation to explore learning and career opportunities.
Having said this, Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh added the effort by Yayasan Sarawak in collaboration with the Sarawak State Education Department (JPNS) is significant in guiding students and parents to make the best choices for the future.
“The young generation really needs support and encouragement from all parties for them to continue their education and move towards employment.
“The efforts of the District Education Office (PPD) in organising an expo like this are very appropriate for us to provide support, assistance and advice to them so that they do not lose their way after completing their secondary school education,” he said.
He said this when officiating at the Sarikei District Education Office (PPD) Sarawak Education Expo 2025 at the Sarikei Central Hall, here yesterday (Aug 16).

Len said large-scale programmes such as the Sarawak Education Expo, SCaT Fair and Pro-DR which are implemented throughout the state serve to provide more comprehensive exposure to students on the choice of majors that are suitable for their interests and industry needs.
In the context of state development, he said, Sarawak needs more skilled workers to support various strategic initiatives including the hydrogen industry, green energy, space hubs and airlines.
He said that developed countries such as Japan, Korea and Europe have shown that up to 80 per cent of their workforce has technical skills and vocational skills.
Thus, he said, Sarawak also needs to emulate this ratio in order to be able to compete globally.
He also called on all parties including private educational institutions, government agencies, banks, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), PIBKS and parents to jointly play a role in ensuring that the younger generation receives adequate exposure to educational and career paths.
The expo, which will be held simultaneously in 30 locations throughout Sarawak, is expected to be a catalyst for the achievement of the state’s aspirations towards ‘Sarawak Maju Makmur 2030’.
