KUCHING: Sarawak will celebrate Women’s Day 2025 (HW25) on April 26 with a grand celebration at UCSI Hotel here.
The celebration will highlight the state’s commitment to women’s empowerment and their vital contributions to societal progress.
The event, themed “Sarawak Women Creating Legacies,” will honour the contributions and achievements of Sarawakian women in various fields and recognise their impact on shaping families, communities and the state’s development.
According to Women, Early Childhood, and Community Well-being Development Minister, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will officiate the Sarawak Women’s Day 2025 celebration.
About 700 guests are expected to attend the event, including State Cabinet members, Members of Parliament, State Assembly members, government officials, community leaders, and women’s organisations and NGOs representatives.
“Additionally, 1,000 participants from 45 district offices, Sarawak civil servants, and women’s organisations will join via Zoom, while the public can follow the celebration through UKAS’ live broadcast,” she said at a press conference held here Wednesday.
The celebration will begin at 8:30am and will be broadcast live on the Sarawak Public Communication Unit’s (UKAS) Facebook page to allow broader public participation.
Among the highlights of HW25 are an exhibition and sales showcase by government agencies, women entrepreneurs, and NGOs.
The event will also feature speeches by Fatimah and the Premier, followed by the launch of the book Sarawak Women Creating Legacies.
