KUALA LUMPUR: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) has once again reinforced its standing in higher education by clinching two major honours at the Malaysia Education & TVET Awards (META) 2025 held at Berjaya Times Square Hotel yesterday.
Unimas Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit received the Outstanding Personality Award for Transformational Leadership in Higher Education, in recognition of his visionary leadership and commitment to advancing the university’s mission.
Meanwhile, Unimas Business School (UBS) secured the Best Business School – Sustainable Community Outreach & Lifelong Learning award, marking its third consecutive win since 2023 under the stewardship of CEO Prof Dr Puah Chin Hong.

The awards were presented by Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, who commended Unimas for its significant contributions to the national education and TVET landscape.
In a statement, Unimas said the recognition reflected the university vision of becoming a community-driven institution with global outreach, highlighting UBS’ efforts in expanding beyond traditional classrooms through short courses, professional and executive programmes and community initiatives that embed lifelong learning into everyday life.
Organised annually by PR Partners Asia Sdn Bhd, META recognises excellence, sustainability and innovation across Malaysia’s education and TVET sectors.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Unimas board, UBS leadership, faculty deans and senior university management.
