LUNDU: The General Operations Force (GOF) foiled an attempt to transport frozen food products worth over RM220,000 using a lorry last week.
In addition, a 29-year-old man was arrested by the GOF 11th Battalion at around 4.15pm on July 28.
Sarawak GOF Brigade commander SAC Dr Che Ghazali Che Awang said the interception was made at an illegal route in district.
“The team inspected a lorry driven by the suspect, which was believed to be carrying frozen food products without a valid permit.
“Further checks uncovered 380 boxes of frozen food items in the vehicle. The total value of the seized items, including the lorry, is estimated at RM222,960, based on market prices.”
Both the suspect and seized items were handed over to the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) Lundu branch for further action.
The case is being investigated under Section 17(1) of the Veterinary Public Health Ordinance 1999.
SAC Che Ghazali shared that from Jan 1 to Aug 4 this year, the Sarawak GOF Brigade recorded RM301.8 million in successful seizures through 301 cases, leading to the arrest of 398 individuals and confiscation of 225 vehicles of various types.
