BETONG: The RM248 million Bebuling short-take-off and landing airport (STOLport) is expected to be fully completed by February 2026.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the facility will serve both passenger and cargo transportation, enabling agricultural produce to be transported to markets outside Spaoh and strengthening the rural economic supply chain.

He said this after a working visit on Tuesday to inspect the progress of the Bebuling STOLport project, along with several key infrastructure developments in the Betong Division.

The project includes the construction of the main terminal building, runway earthworks and paving, as well as related civil works.

Once completed, the airport is expected to spur local economic activity through the establishment of a Collection, Packaging and Processing Centre (CPPC) and an Agropark, while also supporting the development of eco-tourism products in the Betong Division.

During the same visit, he was briefed by Betong Divisional Public Works Department (PWD) engineer Jason Ng on the progress of several other infrastructure projects.

These include the Sungai Krian Bridge (Coastal Package D4), the highway to the Roban Junction (Coastal Package A5), Batang Saribas Bridge No. 2 (Coastal Package A4), Sungai Paku Bridge, as well as rural road projects along the Jambu Krampak–Rantau Layan and Ijok–Batu Pesok–Rantau Layan routes.

The visit was also attended by Betong MP Datuk  Dr Richard Rapu, Sarawak PWD director Datuk Dr Cassidy Morris and senior officers from relevant agencies.
