KUCHING: Kuching City FC are bracing for a defining night as they gear up for a do-or-die Malaysia Cup semi-final second leg.
Head coach, Aidil Sharin Sahak, has urged his players to “give 100 per cent” in pursuit of history.
The Cats, who have already created history by reaching their first-ever Malaysia Cup semi-final, will host Selangor FC, the 33-time Malaysia Cup winners, in the return leg at the Stadium Negeri, Petra Jaya, on Saturday (April 18).
They head into the decisive clash on the back of a 1-1 draw in the first leg at Petaling Jaya Stadium on April 5, leaving everything to play for in front of their home supporters.
Aidil rallied his players ahead of the crucial encounter and stressed the importance of mentality and effort, calling on his squad to rise to the occasion.
“We must fight and play with full commitment. Give 100 per cent,” he told Sarawak Tribune when contacted.
However, the Cats will have to cope without Rodney Celvin, who is suspended after picking up a yellow card, adding another layer of challenge for the hosts.
Despite that setback, Aidil has called on Kuching supporters to turn up in full force and create a daunting atmosphere for the visitors, as the Cats look to feed off home support in their push for a historic final berth.
“Once again, I urge Kuching City fans to come to the home ground and back the players. Your support is crucial to lift the team’s spirit and create a daunting atmosphere for the visitors,” he said.
