KUCHING: A student from Sekolah Menengah Sains Kuching Utara emerged runner-up in the Malaysia Grand Final of the Malaysian Brain Bee Challenge (MBBC) 2026, which saw 1,342 participants competing nationwide.
Azyvell Azyvien Azileh secured second place in the neuroscience competition, making her one of three students from Sekolah Berasrama Penuh (SBP) schools to finish among the top four.
Ezqandar Zulqarnaen Mohd Ezril of Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi Jempol took third place, while Thariq Ziad Fazrul Izwan of Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi Selandar finished fourth.
Ezqandar also received the Al-Biruni Winner MBBC 2026 award.
The three students competed against participants from across the country in the field of neuroscience, with their performances marking an achievement for their respective schools.
Their success was also credited to the guidance of teachers, support from parents and encouragement from their respective school communities.
It is hoped that the achievement will encourage the students to further pursue their interests in science, research and medicine.
