Remanded for seven days over probe into gang robbery

MIRI:  Police remanded two local men suspected to be involved in a gang robbery at a construction site in Sungai Ukong, Lambir for seven days

In the incident which was alleged to have happened last Friday at 9.45pm, the suspects, aged 29 and 19, were said to have threatened the Indonesian security guard with a knife before fleeing the scene with several iron bars.

They were arrested by a team of police last Sunday at 4.30pm at a house at Jalan Maigold Phase 2 and produced in the Miri Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

They are being remanded to facilitate police investigations under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery.

The suspects have previous criminal records for theft.
